Girls High School Softball Game with Final Score 64-0: A Failure of Leadership

Coach Tom and Coach Guy discuss the recent loss of the Franklin Girls Softball team 64-0 to West Seattle.  They discuss the failures by both coaches and the umpire, the impact on players on both teams, and offer suggestions on how the game should have been handled more gracefully.

I find it incredible that there was not a mercy rule (in most areas it is a ten run lead after four innings) and that the umpires did not rule the runners out for leaving early. Does Washington state HS softball not follow the guidelines from the ASA or NFHS (National Federation of Hishg Schools)?

I don't state any of this to say that the coaches should not have "called off the dogs" as we would say here in TN because this many runs is ridiculous.
